Bohemia, NY --- On November 19th, 2017 the Connetquot High School Girls’ Volleyball team defeated Shenendehowa High School in Glens Falls, NY, to win their second New York State Championship in three years! Bohemia, NY --- In December of 2016 Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Antony Felicio, Jr., made a donation on behalf of the CTA to the BideAwee Pet Adoption Center after arranging to visit teachers at Connetquot High School. There was so much support for BideAwee and the little friends they brought along, that this year 3 adorable black lab puppies visited Oakdale-Bohemia and Ronkonkoma Middle Schools on December 15th.

Bohemia, NY --- Anthony Felicio, Jr., President of the Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) joined with students, teachers and members of the Connetquot community to provide additional relief supplies to be sent to the needy on the island of Puerto Rico. In a program that was organized by Connetquot High School Foreign Language Honor Society (FLHS) Advisors Cheryl Sosa, Eileen MGinnis and Adriana DeFelice, the CTA President dropped off more than $500 worth of badly needed supplies on October 11th to help our friends on the island of Puerto Rico.

CTA sponsored Narcan training seminar was conducted by Erik Zalewski
Bohemia, NY --- Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Mr. Anthony Felicio, Jr. invited Erik Zalewski (MS, EMT-CC) to meet with district teachers on February 8th. Zalewski is a veteran paramedic affiliated with the Emergency Care & Safety Institute, National Safety Council and the American Heart Association. Felicio invited Zalewski to work with district educators on the use of Narcan, which is used to reverse opioid overdoses.

Connetquot Teachers Adopt Two Local Families For The Holidays
Bohemia, NY -- On Tuesday, December 20th, Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Anthony Felicio, Jr., along with members Carolyn Paul and Christine Dassler took a short trip to the Cohalan Court Complex in Central Islip to make a delivery! Working with Cohalan Children’s Center supervisor Jacqueline Dwyer and program aide Kathleen Meade, the CTA ‘adopted’ two local families and dropped off toys, games, books, clothes and gift cards for those needy families. Additionally, the CTA dropped off boxes of clothes, toys and books for use at the Children’s Center.

Connetquot Teachers Association Meet With Regent Tilles
Bohemia, NY --- On May 27, 2015 the Connetquot Teachers Association had the opportunity to meet, ask questions, and share concerns with Regent Tilles regarding the current education environment. Discussed was the recent hiring of the new Commissioner, APPR, high stakes testing, and the hopeful change in direction of the NYSED. The Association appreciated Regent Tilles taking the time to meet and discuss these important issues.
The association was pleased and fortunate to have with us parents Lisa Kennedy, Craig Amarando and Nick Ferraioli (trustee elects as well), and members Heidi Edmonds, Jessica Sidenius Rowe, Ken Leman, Brad Lindell, Diane Boyle, and Tony Felicio.

Held at the colorfully decorated library at Connetquot High School, Felicio and CTA committee members, welcomed the selected students, their parents and the teachers “… who made a difference …” in their lives. Each of the six winning students received an attractive certificate, a copy of their winning essay, and a check for $500.

Association's Analysis of Teacher State Scores Reveal They are Unreliable and Invalid

Parents, teachers, students and community members from across New York state, including CONNETQUOT TEACHERS ASSOCIATION members, headed to Albany on Saturday, June 8th for a rally against over-testing and underfunding in public education. Local rally-goers took the 3 and a half hour bus trip up to Albany to make their voices heard. Tony Felicio, Jr., President of the Connetquot Teachers Association who was in attendance said, “What a great day to see everyone who is concerned about the future of Public Education together, rallying for more funding and less testing. The day was very inspiring.” Tony also went on to thank those teachers from Connetquot who also took the time to make the journey up to Albany and be a part of the special day.

Connetquot Teacher Recognized For Life Saving Action
Bohemia, NY --- Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Anthony Felicio, Jr. recently congratulated the families of Art teacher Erica Martino-Lattuga, and Security Specialist Debbie Billotto, on being recognized by the district’s Board of Education (BOE). Members of the BOE presented certificates to Martino-Lattuga and Billotto at their April 23rd meeting. Their quick thinking, training and reaction, resulted in saving the life of a high school student who had suffered a grand mal seizure during lunch period at Connetquot High School.
Erica Martino-Lattuga and Debbie Billotto were recognized by the Connetquot Board of Education for their life-saving efforts.

Connetquot Teachers Association Hosts Community Fireman 'Thank You' Breakfast

Ronkonkoma, NY --- On Sunday morning, January 13th, members of the Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) visited the Bohemia, and West Sayville, Fire Departments to provide a ‘Thank You’ breakfast to these dedicated volunteers. Connetquot Teachers Association President Tony Felicio, Jr., has long appreciated the sacrifices of the community’s volunteer firemen, and EMS workers. Through personal experience he has come to value what these selfless individuals do when they receive that ‘emergency’ phone call. But the response of these community volunteers during, and after, Hurricane Sandy took their dedication to another level.

November 28, 2012 --- At last night’s Board of Education meeting, a number of issues were discussed that the Association believes should be a concern to all who have a vested interest in the Connetquot Central School District. Whether you are a parent of children in the district, without children, but a taxpayer in the district, a staff member who resides in the district, or a staff member who does not reside in the Connetquot district, we all should be concerned.

Connetquot Teachers Help With Thanksgiving Dinner And Continue Hurricane Recovery Support
Ronkonkoma, NY --- For the weeks that followed the devastation of Hurricane Sandy Connetquot teachers volunteered to help members of the community through the heartache and recovery. Currently there are 20 Connetquot families that have been displaced as a result of the damage to their homes and property, particularly in the Idle Hour area of Oakdale. Members of the Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) have stepped up to work with student groups, community PTA’s and other volunteer agencies to provide physical, emotional and financial support for the families affected.

Connetquot Teachers Association Commits $15,000 For Community Members Afffected By Hurricane
Ronkonkoma, NY --- At a November 13th meeting of the Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) a motion was introduced, and passed unanimously, to create a $15,000 emergency fund for community members affected by the recent hurricane.
According to CTA President Mr. Anthony Felicio, Jr., “… the organization is joining forces with the entire community to do what we can to relieve some of the pain caused by this recent devastating weather. The CTA is asking that any community family affected, or someone who knows of a family affected, by the recent weather to contact us at 631-676-3061.”

Connetquot Teachers Association Organizes Rallies To Educate NY Now!
Ronkonkoma, NY --- On Thursday afternoon, October 25th, Connetquot teachers and parents took part in a state-wide effort to Educate NY Now! Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Tony Felicio, Jr., organized rallies at four of the district’s 11 schools in an effort to “… demand that our state government fulfills New York’s Constitutional obligation to provide all students with a quality education.” The CTA recently joined Educate NY Now, a coalition that unites parents, students, educators, administrators, unions, school board members, community organizations, civil rights groups and education advocates.

Connetquot Teachers Association Supports Cohalan Court Complex Childrens Center
Ronkonkoma, NY --- Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Tony Felicio, Jr., recently filled his car with cases of children’s books, healthy snacks, bottled water and fruit juices, tissues and paper towels. He delivered those supplies to the Children’s Center, located at the Cohalan Court Complex in Central Islip, NY. The supplies were donated by members of the Connetquot Teachers Association, and collected by the teachers at the 11 schools within the district.

Connetquot Teachers March to 'Make Strides Against Breast Cancer'
Ronkonkoma, NY --- The Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) once again took part in the annual ‘Making Strides Against Breast Cancer’ Walk, on Sunday, October 15th. Current, and retired, Connetquot teachers were joined by spouses, children, parents, and students from the John Pearl Elementary School, at the Brookhaven campus of Dowling College. Led by CTA President Tony Felicio, Jr.,and membership coordinators Joanna McManaman & Lisa Manzo, Connetquot teachers demonstrated their support for the fight against cancer.

Bohemia, NY --- Connetquot Teacher Association President, Tony Felicio, Jr. is seen here speaking at a celebratory gathering of school administrators, local dignitaries, parents, local media and students. All gathered to congratulate the Habitat for Humanity Club at Connetquot High School under the advisement of Mr. Jason Wilans, special education teacher at the High School for its outstanding contribution to the community. Tony spent time during the year assisting on a job site helping to put up the walls to a new house. Tony stated, “it was very gratifying, working along side my teacher colleagues, the many students who participated in the build, as well as the family who was to live in the house. To see the passion and commitment on everyone's face to get the job done was tremendous.” Felicio also went on to say, “if you have never experienced working on a build with Habitat, you should consider volunteering a little time to do so. Not only are you giving back to the community and helping others, but the experience is personally, very rewarding.”
Congratulations to Mr. Wilans and to all of the students and teachers who took part in this very worthy cause.

Connetquot Teachers Association President Joins Bagels and Books Breakfast at Cohalan Complex Childrens Center
Ronkonkoma, NY --- Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Tony Felicio, Jr., participated in the Children’s Center Bagel & Books Breakfast on Thursday, May 17th, at the Cohalan Court Complex in Central Islip, NY. Felicio was invited to attend this morning ‘thank you’ event by Andrea Ramos-Topper, Regional Director of the Education and Assistance (EAC) Corporation. The EAC operates the Children’s Center which provides a safe area for youngsters while families are involved in court proceedings.

Connetquot Teachers Join Habitat For Humanity 'Build' In Central Islip
Ronkonkoma, NY --- On February 8th, Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA) President Tony Felicio, Jr., joined Habitat for Humanity Club advisor Jason Wilans on a trip to Central Islip to help build a home for the Arevalo-Quezada family of Freeport, NY. Wilans brought along 12 student volunteers and several additional teachers to begin work on this Habitat for Humanity home. Long-time construction volunteer Charlie Trupia, a member of the Habitat’s Board of Directors, and a veteran Social Studies teacher at Connetquot HS, also worked on this Habitat ‘build’. This Central Islip project is one of more than a dozen homes that will be built and made available to needy Suffolk families this year.

On January 19th, at Ronkonkoma MS, Connetquot teachers and members of the community joined forces to support Tyler Ponzio and his family. At an exciting event organized by CTA members Dee Kirwin and Cathy Mongiello over 250 students, teachers and members of the community enjoyed a spirited series of contests pitting one group of teachers against another! Connetquot Teachers Association President Tony Felicio, Jr., was there to cheer on the teachers’ efforts to support Tyler.

Connetquot Teachers Raise $10,000 for Habitat for Humanity
Dr. Brad Lindell, Vice President of the Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA), congratulates Mr. Jason Wilans, Connetquot High School Special Education teacher (advisor to the Habitat for Humanity Club) and Mr. Charles Trupia, Connetquot High School Social Studies teacher (past advisor of the Habitat for Humanity Club) for their efforts and those of their club members in raising $10,000 for the Habitat of Humanity Suffolk County. The $10,000 was raised last month in Connetquot’s first-ever 5k Santa Fun Run! According to Mr. Wilans, the $10,000 is the highest amount ever raised in Nassau or Suffolk County for a one day fund raising event. Tony Felicio, Jr., President of the Connetquot Teachers Association, said that, “once again we see the efforts made by our Connetquot teachers in working with their students and the positive impact and benefit it has on the community.” Felicio went on to offer congratulations to Mr. Wilans and his Club for a “job well done!”

6th Annual ‘Every Child's Dream’ A Reality
‘Every Child’s Dream’ is an annual charity event created, organized and ever-expanded, by Mr, Ken Mangan, of Sayville. On December 16th Mangan, along with over 100 volunteers including members of the Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA), hosted the 6th Annual Every Child’s Dream dinner at Sayville High School, in Sayville, NY. According to Mangan over 700 invited guests were served dinner, while volunteers would distribute coats, sweaters, hats, gloves, scarves, blankets and school supplies to needy neighbors. CTA President Mr. Anthony Felicio, Jr., was proud of his membership’s continued support of Mr. Mangan’s wonderful effort to help the needy.

Inaugural 5K Santa Fun Run!
On Sunday, December 11th more than 400 runners registered to take part in the Connetquot School District Habitat for Humanity Club’s first-ever 5k Santa Fun Run! Habitat advisor Jason Wilans said that “,,, the Santa Fun Run had over 60 sponsors that generously supported our efforts. This event was so successful because of the support of dozens of fellow teachers, more than 100 Connetquot student-volunteers and more than 10 additional school groups.”

Connetquot Teachers Spread the Holiday Cheer
Mr. Tony Felicio, Jr., President of the Connetquot Teachers Association attended the Bohemia Historical Society’s holiday meeting on Thursday evening, December 1, 2011. The Connetquot H.S. Brass Band Ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Greg Johnson performed for the audience.
The Connetquot band has been a part of this festive evening for the past nine years. In front of a packed house, the band played Christmas carols and helped put everyone in the holiday spirit.
The Bohemia Historical Society was very thankful to Mr. Johnson and the musicians for taking time out of their busy schedules to spend time with them.
Congratulations to Mr. Johnson and the students for a fine performance.

Heart Health Fundraiser
Mr. Anthony Felicio, President of the Connetquot Teachers Association (CTA), recently commended the CTA members at the Idle Hour Elementary School, in Oakdale, for working with their students to raise money for the American Heart Association. According to Idle Hour Phys Ed instructor Mr. Paul Rondenella, “… each year the Physical Education staff holds a jump rope party to help raise money for the American Heart Association. This year’s event raised more than $11,500; $4,000 more than last year’s effort.”

in Breast Cancer Walk
Teachers and their families
walked at Dowling College on October 1st in
the Strides Against Breast Cancer Walk. The
CTA participants raised over $1500.00 for the
cause as a result of their efforts. According
to Joanna McManaman and Lisa Manzo, co-coordinators
of Community Advocacy, "The CTA has many
plans to expand its charity raising efforts
to include many more staff and students. We
are proud of our teachers and the support they
offered us. Our collection efforts continue
and we have a goal of raising $2500.00."
President of the Association, Tony Felicio,
Jr. added, "I am proud of the work of the
CTA coordinators of Community Advocacy, Joanna
and Lisa. Their efforts have resulted in monies
being raised for a very important cause."
